The relationships of employed students to non‐employed students and non‐student work colleagues: Identity implications

We explored how employed university students experience their relationships with work colleagues and non-employed students. Two research questions (RQs) were considered: RQ1: What experiences conditions do identify as contributing to a sense that they are distinct separate group from (1) (2) students? RQ2: feel facilitate and/or inhibit social adaptation integration at university? interviewed 21 part-time in England, analyzed the transcripts using reflexive thematic analysis. adopted deductive approach, Social Identity Approach theoretical framework. In relation colleagues, identified lack of empathy, being looked down upon, experiencing hostility workplace making them colleagues. students, differences values increasing intergroup differentiation, which then resulted feelings not fitting or exclusion.
